Tony stands by, doomstruck, as Beth’s body is wheeled away. Her shattered suitcase lies exploded in the middle of the road. This was one nasty smash. He makes his way to the hospital and enters the warm, laughing bubble of Kit’s maternity room. He breaks the news. Kit falls into a bear-faced stupor, while Mattie musters all her acting skills for a bout of hysterical sobs. Kit solemnly gathers her things and demands to be taken home. She reckons she needs to start planning Beth’s funeral without delay. On their way out, Tony spots the driver of the truck that killed Beth on a stretcher. He’s infuriated to see the driver’s made it out alive.Sister actBack at the house, the family sit around with long faces while iron-faced Kit throws herself into organising the funeral. It’s all a bit much, and Mattie explodes. Kit’s just not dealing with her feelings. She hasn’t even cried yet. Kit tells her sister to stop being so selfish, and Tony storms out. He’s got some business of his own to attend to. He heads to the hospital where the wayward truck driver lies hooked up, and stares at him till he jolts awake. Tony starts screaming at him, accusing him of wrecking his family and all sorts.

“Beth Hunter was her name and you have killed her!” he yelps. The driver shrinks with fear, and Tony drags himself away, staggering back to the homestead.

“I almost did a stupid thing, Jack,” he shudders. Jack comforts his father and hands him a bag of things from the accident.

Poor Tone pulls out her wallet and finds a picture of him and Beth together in happy times. He collapses in a flood of tears.

Shake your money maker

Cam’s got his finger in a new pie. A rich and sleazy new investor, Lou, is flashing his designer pockets in the direction of the Rocket club. He’s also dropping greasy hints that he’d be willing to flash a lot more if that cutie-pie Martha writhes in front of him some more.

Martha knows she’s a crucial part of Cam’s plan, but with all that’s gone on she needs to spend a bit of time with Jack.

She calls to say she’ll be late, but Cam’s bit on the side, Amy, takes the call and “forgets” to pass the message on. Cam is breathing fire by the time she rolls in. Martha angrily explains there’s been a family tragedy and that she did call; Cam back-pedals and offers her a few days paid holiday.

Cindy thinks he’s gone bananas, but the Eyebrow knows what he’s doing. “We need her to get him,” he says grimly. Lou likes to be “entertained”. What could he have in store for the Marth?
