So, Kit’s kitten has finally decided to make an appearance. After so much practice, Kim barely bats an eyelid as he scoops the balloon into the car and zooms off hospital-wards. Annoyingly, the Yabbie Creek road is blocked; there’s been an accident. Kim thinks fast and decides, with manly delusion, to take a short cut through the bush. Poor Kit moans and gurgles as Kim rumbles across the rocky trail and her contractions get closer. It’s not long before a migraine flares up. “Don’t worry, I’ve done this plenty of times,” Kim sings. If she can just hold tight for a few minutes he’ll…get a puncture. The spare tyre’s flat, too; there’s no fixing this car, and neither is there any reception in the depths of the bush.“This baby is coming!” Kit hollers. Kim’s going to have to deliver this kitty himself. He reassures himself that childbirth is as natural as the birds and the bees, and grips onto Kit as she lays a healthy baby boy. Kim cradles the littl’un and gazes at Kit in wonder. Suddenly, Kit starts convulsing violently.Missing linkMeanwhile Jack is getting the third degree from growly McGrath, who has found the Rocket file without the drug evidence. "Any idea why the drug sieze at the Rocket club would be missing from the file?” Jack pleads ignorance. He would never dream of tampering with evidence to save his ex-wife from criminal charges! He knows that’s a seriously serious offence. Jack wants to see Cam go down and wouldn’t do anything to jeopardise that. McGrath isn’t convinced, but is forced to call Cam and Martha in and drop the charges. Cam smellhome a rat. He knows this was a set up.

“You’ll get what’s coming to you,” Jack snarls. Martha secretly thanks him for saving her ass. Just when Jack thinks the storm’s subsiding, McGrath calls him to his office in a grim voice.

Crash landing

Matilda, Sal et al are stumped when they arrive at the hospital to hear that Kit and Kim haven’t arrived yet. Tony, who’s sat at home eagerly awaiting Beth’s arrival, is equally surprised, and voices his concerns to Alf.

Alf’s lived in Summer Bay since dinosaurs walked the earth, so he twigs that Kim would have braved the bush track and heads out to find them. He arrives at the scene just in time and shuttles the stricken threesome directly to the hospital.

Before too long, Kit is sitting up in bed, cradling her new son while the family coos around her and Rachel looks on wistfully. Born on a bush track – what a story!

If only Beth had made it in time. Tony has given up on waiting for her and has hit the road himself. He arrives at the crash scene and stops, exasperated.

He’s greeted by a bleak-looking Jack. A feeling of dread descends as Tony spots a body covered in a sheet being wheeled towards an ambulance. It’s Beth.
