Rachel’s trying valiantly to cheer up mopey James. It’s important that he maintains a skyward chin, lest he should slip back into drug-induced psychosis, but Rachel’s truly revolting grey jacket is enough to drive anyone mad. James is wallowing in mardy-juice. He knows he’s driven Kit away; all he wants to do is explain and say sorry. “I’m never going back to drugs, they cost me everything,” he maintains. Rachel thinks it could be good for both parties if Kit and James see each other, get a bit of closure. Kit agrees, and heads to the hospital to humour James for a while. James is walking on sunshine when Rachel visits him next. “It’s like nothing changed,” he sighs, already planning his beach date with Kit. Rachel’s concerned that James has got the wrong end of the stick, and she’s right; Kit doesn’t intend to get back with that useless drugbag in this lifetime. She heads back to the hospital to set James straight. He doesn’t take it well; he does a runner. Lock up your daughters…Hold the front PaigeOutside the Rocket, Martha witnesses a screaming row between Cam and a former employee, a haggard young lass named Paige. She’s demanding money and accusing Cam of all sorts – getting her hooked on drugs, would you believe. Martha heads to the Eyebrow’s office; he stuffs wads of cash and bags of powder into his squash bag before letting her in. Cam laughs it off, telling Martha to ignore Paige; she’s trouble.

It’s hard to ignore a girl when she’s bellowing and throwing glass bottles at the window, though. Cam calls the cops. Summer Bay’s only cop, Jack, arrives to take Paige away, shooting Martha a bemused look as he goes.

Squash racket

Jack and Paige turn up on Martha’s doorstep later on. Martha tries to slam the door in her face, but Jack wants her to listen to Paige. She thinks Martha’s going through exactly what she did; Cam's noodling into her affections; paying her rent; tricking her into dancing; alienating her friends.

Martha refuses to believe he got her hooked on drugs – what’s the use of a smacked-out dancer? – but Paige laughs. “What he wants to do is own you. Drugs are just another way of controlling you.”

Paige says Cam stashes his nasty drugs in his squash bag. Martha decides to see for herself. Next time she’s in the office, she makes a beeline for the squash bag. Cindy spots her, and she moves away.

Later on she grabs the bag from Cam’s panicked hands, demanding to know the truth. He’s outraged that she doesn’t trust him, but relieved when the contents burst out: a pile of stinky squash gear. Martha feels stupid, and the pair kiss and make up. Thank God for Cindy and her crafty drug-hiding ways. He owes her big time.
