Kit is so not impressed to discover James has been dabbling with the demon weed. In a house where a policeman lives, of all places; and she doesn’t want her sprog getting all passively stoned…though it could subdue the kicking somewhat. “Um, I’ll smoke it outside, OK?” James slurs. When he lopes back in, all mong-faced and twinkly eyed, he twigs that Kit’s in a mard and it’s not just his paranoia. But James has got the raving munchies, and the Diner beckons. They bump into Kim and Rachel who shoot daggers at James. Rachel might have promised not to file an official report but she’s sure as shirley been dishing the dirt to Kim. Kim foolishly invites Kit round to search for their midwife. He finds the remnants of James’ spliff in the sink and spits the dummy. “I think the three of us need to have a chat.” Someone’s going to get their botty smacked…Constant cravingIt’s all getting a bit much for poor waddling Kit. She throws Kim out, chastising him for poking his beak in. She’s suddenly overwhelmed with love for her hamster-facer stoner of a boyfriend, and tells him so. The baby is the most important thing in Kit’s life and she wants the man she’s with to be able to care for that child and without a bong clamped to his lips. “I love you too Kit, I always have,” James croons, resolving to pack in his habit. Colleen’s ever so pleased Kit’s found herself such a nice young man – he’s always laughing himself silly over her tedious stories. But later that night, James is watching TV and shaking with weed withdrawal. He can’t do it. He digs his stash out of the bin.

The last goodbye

It’s Jack’s first day back at work and he’s totally bummed to discover he’s confined to desk duties. As soon as big boss McGrath is out of the door he gets to work chasing files on Sam and Rory’s whereabouts.

When he drops in for lunch, Tony warns him to stop; tracking them down could make things worse, but Jack just needs to see Sam one more time. Finally, he gets a lead. Jack’s reunited with Sam on a blustery pier. She’s cross with him for jeopardising her safety, but can’t choke back her feelings.

Jack fights back the tears when little Rory says he misses him, but sadly agrees to stop looking for them. Sam promises if she’s ever free from danger, she’ll come back for Jack. Just to make things worse, McGrath lays into Jack for slacking. Jack tells him to stick his files up his bum.
