A scheming Dom returns from his interview ready to try out his acting skills in a bid to explain to Belle and Drew the reasons for his not having got the job. I guess Ill just have to slog it out here, he says, shooting Belle a furtive glance. Irene, of course, has other ideas. No sooner has Dom made himself comfortable in the diner than his soon-to-be ex-boss calls Belle over to present her with a recently delivered tape. It turns out that it contains CCTV footage from the interview, which was led by Irenes daughter Finn. As Belle soon discovers, Dom worked his way through every trick in the book to ensure that the job would remain firmly out of reach: from ditching his suit in favour of his usual scruffy attire to letting go of the few manners at his disposal, he had no problems making it known that he wasnt interested. Realising that hes been busted, Dom decides its time to call it quits and make a break from the Bay but he nevertheless leaves under the delusion that when he returns the object of his affections will be only too willing to jump into his arms.Losing her religion Its the final farewell for Lucas as he leaves for university and a budding writing career, and the loss of yet another constant in her life is felt deeply by poor Annie, whos also desperately awaiting news of the outcome of Reverend Halls surgery. Unbeknownst to her and Geoff, their mentor is ready to face the worst; its almost as if he knows that this is the end for him, and with a heavy heart he hands Morag a package to pass on to the kids in the event of him not being able to do so himself. When they later arrive at the hospital having been told that Hall has pulled through, Annie and Geoff are devastated to learn that things have taken an unexpected turn. Hall slipped into a coma following the operation and isnt responding to any tests; now being kept alive by a ventilator, he wont be waking up. A devastated Annie is quick to renounce her faith and makes it clear when she shuns the Reverends gift of a Bible that she sees in the ever religious Geoff everything thats causing her so much pain. Naturally, its to Adens great pleasure that the once inseparable siblings seem to be drifting apart but this time his offhand remarks are about to get him more than hed bargained for.
