Earlier this year, we discovered Gary Lucy would be bringing back his Hollyoaks character Luke Morgan for the first time in 15 years. Though he was always a fan favourite during his original stint in the Channel 4 soap, that could all be about to change if his words about his return are to be believed.
Speaking to the Radio Times, he teased: “Luke is definitely not the same person and it is definitely not for the better. Hopefully it’ll make for good viewing though.
“The producer Bryan Kirkwood talked me through some fantastic stories and I thought it was a great opportunity to bring back my favourite telly character. The plots are great, Bryan is such an enthusiastic producer, and I’m involved with Sarah, Nick Pickard (Tony Hutchinson), Ashley Taylor Dawson (Darren Osbourne) who I love.”
The comments come after Gary Lucy had already spoken about a darker side of Luke that we may be meeting upon his return, with inner turmoil for the character coming to the forefront.
Whether or not it will come as a result of his rape at the hands of a gang of male bullies during his original time in Hollyoaks remains to be seen.
Gary adds: “There are a lot of things he’s struggling with. All is not as it seems. He’s holding it together but as time goes on, he will start to struggle.”
Hollyoaks continues throughout the week at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with First Look episodes airing at 7pm weeknights on E4.
