Laurel's back on the booze and has one too many in the pub, before receiving a call from work, with Jai demanding an explanation for why she isn't at work. When she makes a comment about Archie, things go from bad to worse and she is sacked on the spot, left to explain things to Marlon. Meanwhile, Andy returns to Wylie's with Robert, and Emma's questioned by Adam about the sign swapping, before he tells her to stay away from him and his family.

Andy reveals he isn't going to attend Katie's funeral leaving Diane and Chas shocked, so Debbie does her best to make him come round to showing up, but doesn't make any good progress. The grieving widower is left making a huge decision when Moira gives him some advice, and his response isn't what she thinks. Enquiring about a job at the college, Laurel's thrilled when she's invited to go for an interview and is hopeful about a fresh start.

In an hour-long episode, it's the day of Katie's funeral and Robert panics when Aaron suggests it's time the pair of them tell the truth. Elsewhere, Andy is ready to take his own life, driving to the quarry and parking dangerously close to the edge. Will the boys be able to track him down and stop him from doing something stupid? Back at the village, Priya sacks Kirin leaving Jai impressed, unaware that the whole incident was planned behind his back, and Laurel reaches for the vodka in a nervous episode before her new job interview.

The residents of Emmerdale are trying to come to terms with recent events, and Chas isn't sure she can believe her son Aaron when he says his relationship with Robert is over. Laurel lies to Marlon about how the job interview went as he continues to worry about money, and Nicola books herself and Jimmy a room at the B&B before her good mood is ruined by an upsetting comment.
