Some of the most emotional scenes from Emmerdale in recent years aired this week, when Aaron Livesy (Danny Miller) revealed to his on-off partner Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) that he was raped at the age of eight by his own father, Gordon.
Discovering that his former flame was self harming once more, Robert's panic for Aaron began to grow and so he sought answers as to why he was so troubled, only to be left stunned when Aaron revealed exactly what had happened to him throughout his childhood.
After finding out what had happened, Robert tried to convince Aaron to tell his loved ones about the abuse he endured.
He then went on to admit he still loved Aaron, despite everything the pair had gone through.
Miller took to Twitter after the episode had aired to thank viewers for their comments about his performance and share sources for help and support.
The long-running storyline continues tonight (Friday January 22) at 7pm on ITV.
