Sam (James Hooton) turns to Carl (Tom Lister) and asks to rent Dale View but Carl demands that Sam secure adequate financial backing before he agrees. Sam returns to Pollard (Chris Chittell) and convinces him to be guarantor on the property. Later, a guilty Zak (Steve Halliwell) apologises to Sam, only for Lisa (Jane Cox) to erupt and insist that Sam stays put. Zak is stunned by her outburst and convinces her to give Sam their blessing. How will the Dingles cope as Sam settles into an independent life?Meanwhile, David (Matthew Wolfenden) is horrified to discover that his dad is back with Val (Charlie Hardwick). After Pollard defends Val to his son, she warns him that David will need to be controlled if their relationship is to succeed. On Val's suggestion, Pollard tells David that he'll remove him from his life if he tries to meddle in his relationship this time around. As word spreads in the village about their reconciliation, Pollard decides that the time is right to take Val on a mini-break.Elsewhere, Ross' (Samuel Anderson) girlfriend Kirsty (Ruth Westley) comes to visit and Marlon (Mark Charnock) prays that they can make things work. He takes Donna (Verity Rushworth) out to give Ross some space and Donna admits she doesn't like Kirsty. When Ross breaks up with Kirsty, Donna abandons Marlon to comfort her friend. What will Marlon think of Donna and Ross' growing closeness?
