Diane (Elizabeth Estensen) continues to act strangely around Billy (David Crellin) and is forced to appease Val (Charlie Hardwick) when she worries he's losing interest. Gray (Christopher Villiers) notices the tension and Diane covers before making her exit. Gray follows and his questions yield confirmation that Billy has fallen for Diane. Diane pledges her love for Jack (Clive Hornby) and following Gray's advice she tells Billy that nothing can ever happen between them. He's hurt when Diane attempts to return the CD he bought her and insists she keep it. That night she enjoys a quiet evening with Jack, but is it enough to banish the spectre of Billy?Meanwhile, Jamie (Alex Carter) arranges a saucy rendezvous in his ice cream van with Louise (Emily Symons) and treats her to champagne and strawberries. However, Donna (Verity Rushworth) notices them and is sworn to secrecy by the couple. Jamie's hurt by Louise's defensive reaction and wonders why they can't be open with the village. She tempts his sense of danger by remarking that it will be more exciting to sneak around. Will this be enough for him to hold his tongue?Elsewhere, Pearl (Meg Johnson) and Edna (Shirley Stelfox) continue their sit-in much to Pollard's (Chris Chittell) veiled consternation. Ashley (John Middleton) tries to convince them to give up but the ladies hold firm. David (Matthew Wolfenden) suggests that Pollard offer Pearl her old job back when she states that her sit-in could go on for months. Pollard calls for desperate measures and has the plumbing tampered with. Will this be enough to force them out?
