Matt Willis has joined the cast of Eastenders.
The 30-year-old singer-turned-actor is set to grace Albert Square as City boy Luke, the boyfriend of Stacey Branning (Lacey Turner), in March, but the role will be short-lived as Matt plans to go on tour with his new band - a combination of Busted and McFly - in 2014.
Speaking of joining the BBC soap, he said: "I am so thrilled to be a part of such an iconic show. I grew up watching 'EastEnders' so this is really exciting for me!"
Executive Producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins added: "I've always loved Matt and it will be a real treat for viewers to watch him and Lacey together on screen as part of her return to the Square.
Luke is head over heels in love with Stacey and is determined to secure a life for him and his family, but he soon learns that the brunette beauty hasn't been completely honest with him.
Meanwhile, as part of a shake-up to give the popular show its "balls back", Dominic - who rejoined the programme in the summer after working previously as the story editor - has recently cast Danny Dyer to play, Mick Carter, the new landlord of the Queen Victoria pub, who will cause a stir in Walford on Christmas day (25.12.13).
Danny said previously: "I'm bringing something to soap land that's never been seen before. I'm telling you that now right."
