Janine Butcher and Joey Branning are going to sleep together.
The hunky club worker - played by David Witts - attempts to lure the feisty businesswoman (Charlie Brooks) into spilling the truth behind the brutal death of Michael Moon (Steve Shepherd) after his naive sister Alice Branning (Jasmyn Banks) was charged wrongly with Moon's murder.
A source told Inside Soap magazine: "Janine just doesn't give two hoots about the fact that poor Alice is being punished for something she didn't do. There is a bit of a wobble when it comes to Michael's funeral, though. Janine refuses to attend the service, but she realises she can't keep her emotions locked up forever.
"Joey has some sort of plan up his sleeve. However, who can say if falling into bed with Janine is part of his scene? Thinking about it, it certainly can't do much harm...
"If Joey's hoping to persuade Janine to spill the whole story about what happened the night Michael died, then seducing her should get him a step closer to winning her confidence."
Following their night of passion, Joey is determined to make Janine crack and suggests they do it again soon, and while she is initially reluctant, he manages to charm her into going back to his place.
