EastEnders bosses have this week announced that Tony Clay will be returning to the BBC One soap in the spring, in his fan-favourite role of Callum “Halfway” Highway. Returning to the Square following the drama he got caught up in since his debut in January, Halfway is a friend of the Carter family and even helped them save their beloved Queen Vic from being taken over.

During his time in Walford, Halfway fell head over heels for Whitney and, it didn’t take long for the feelings to become mutual. Despite that, their blossoming romance was cut short when Halfway was called back to duty by the armed forces. Though they enjoy a long-distance relationship, their future is set to change all over again with Halfway’s return.
Chatting about his comeback, Clay said: “I’m really happy and excited to be back on EastEnders and working with such a brilliant cast and crew. Halfway is such a lovely role to play and I’m really looking forward to exploring his story further and seeing where it takes us.”
There’s no exact return date for Halfway just yet, but Clay is already back on the set filming his new scenes.
