EastEnders' Phil Mitchell will run riot in Albert Square with a digger which could cost one resident their life.
The alcoholic - who is played by Steve McFadden - is to go on a booze-fuelled rampage when he jumps in a JCB and sets about destroying his car lot, but doesn't realise one of the Walford inhabitants are inside the Deals on Wheels office.
A source said: "Things have been getting worse for Phil for a while but now his family are starting to turn their backs on him as he won't listen to them and has pushed everyone away.
"He trashes the Arches before taking control of a digger and tearing down the car lot but what he doesn't realise is that someone is in there. All hell breaks loose as everyone starts to rummage through the debris to find out who is trapped inside."
Phil has been struggling with his alcoholism of late and was recently diagnosed with cirrhosis - scarring of the liver - and given just 12 months to live unless he gets a transplant.
His drink driving left wife Sharon Mitchell's (Letita Dean) son Denny Rickman (Bleu Landau) fighting for his life over Christmas when he crashed his Range Rover with the youngster inside, and his latest drinking binge looks set to leave one character in "mortal danger".
The insider added to the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Phil is playing fast and loose with his own life - but now he risks killing someone with his crazy behaviour.
"He doesn't know that someone is trapped inside the office as he rips through Albert Square in a digger. They are in mortal danger and in his current mental state no one dares try to stop him."
Soap bosses haven't revealed the identity of the mystery character who will be trapped inside the destroyed Deals on Wheels office in scenes to air later this month.
