EastEnders' Lee Carter will be a prime suspect when Lucy Beale is murdered in spring scenes.
The hunky newcomer - played by Danny Boy Hatchard - will grace Albert Square next week as the son of Mick and Linda Carter (Danny Dyer and Kellie Bright) after he arrives from his army placement in Afghanistan.
However, little does Lee know that he will attract the attention of the police after he strikes up a relationship with Lucy (Hetti Bywater) just before her death next month.
Speaking to the Radio Times magazine, Danny said: "He's been in Afghanistan surrounded by a load of blokes, comes home and sees a nice bit of skirt.
"He likes Lucy, goes in bold and gets what he wants. They form a nice little bond together and then she goes and gets murdered!
"The likelihood is - and potentially the way they're going to run it - is that Lee is a suspect.
"Whether he's [Lee's] the killer, I don't know. And nobody knows. The way the writers are working is very clever."
Lucy is set to be brutally murdered by a fellow resident after she falls into a trap set by her cold-blooded killer.
However, show bosses are keen for the chilling storyline to be as big as the 'Who Shot Phil Mitchell?' plot in 2001, so they are withholding the killer's identity until next February.
