The BBC have released the first cast photos of Declan Bennett in the role of Dot Cotton's grandson Charlie.
Named after his grandfather, Charlie will shock his grandmother when he turns up on her doorstep later in the year, as she currently has no idea of his existance.
With a bad streak woven throughout the male history of the Cotton family, viewers will be left wondering just why he's tracked down Dot after so long, and whether his intentions in Walford are good, or if he's fallen ill to the same evil traits members of his family have possessed in the past.
"I'm delighted to be joining the cast of EastEnders, especially at what seems to be an extremely exciting time for the show. June Brown is not only an incredible actress but has also created one of TV's most iconic characters, so to be working alongside her is a dream come true." said Bennett earlier this year.
Dominic Treadwell-Collins, Eastenders' executive producer said of his addition: "With Dot feeling increasingly alone in the world, Charlie's surprise appearance means that she finally has some blood whom she can trust. But should she?"
Bennett will first appear on screen from March.
