Opening his new funeral parlour on Albert Square, Les Coker is a new addition to EastEnders along with busybody wife Pam - played respectively by Roger Sloman and Lin Blakley.
Les returns and may be recognised by eagle-eyed viewers after he arranged Pat's funeral, and now he's up to his neck in grief surrounding Nick Cotton's recent demise.
Not a straight cut undertaker, Les is willing to bury secrets as well as bodies for a price, and has recently been seen dodgy dealing with Dot Cotton's granson Charlie - but how far will he go to line his pockets?
His wife Pam is a small woman with a massive heart, and will run the flower stall on the market as well as perform her duties in the funeral parlour.
She can hardly ever be shocked as a former social worker, and her friendliness and warmth is to make her confidant to the Square regulars, but if she finds out exactly what her husband is up to, will she be willing to forgive and forget?
“Being part of EastEnders is like going to work and being with another family, I’m really enjoying myself. Working with Roger has been wonderful from the word go, we have a laugh together and I feel like I have known him forever.” said Lin.
Dominic Treadwell-Collins, Executive Producer added: “Les and Pam are part of our plans to rejuvenate the show’s older generation. It’s already so exciting to watch the chemistry between Roger and Lin on set, playing characters who have been together for so long, they know each other inside out. Or so they think.”
Viewers will see Les and Pam on the Square in Walford this month.
EastEnders continues tonight on BBC One at 8pm.
