Mo tells Charlie about Abi’s theory about the baby being a ghost. Mo thinks she’s being haunted by the spirit of Garry and Lynne’s baby. It’s payback for her constant mocking of Garry. Charlie agrees with her and heads off to the Vic leaving Mo alone – she hears the baby cry…Charlie pulls earplugs out of his ears as he crosses the street passing Jim on his way home. Mo is in a state – she stuffs cotton wool in her ears to block out the sound of the baby.Garry reminds Hazel her that she is only staying for one night. Garry introduces Naomi to Hazel, his mum. Minty comes in from the kitchen and sees Hazel – it is love at first sight. Garry picks up on it and isn’t happy. Hazel flirts with Minty. Garry warns her off. Naomi and Minty have found the photo album – Garry rips it from their hands. Mo turns up to see Garry. Mo begs Garry for forgiveness – she wants the haunting to stop. Garry is completely confused but agrees to forgive her. Garry finds Hazel and Minty together on the sofa. Minty and Hazel continue flirting much to Garry’s disgust. Naomi wants to look at the photo album and suggests looking at it with Hazel as a distraction from the flirting. Garry is mortified as the others look through the photo album. Hazel reveals that Garry used to compete in talent contests. Garry shoots Hazel a warning look. Minty gazes at Hazel but she avoids his gaze. Jim is back in the Vic feeling righteous after making his phone call. He reads a headline in the paper about illegal immigrants and snorts to himself. Anya tells Jim that she is grateful. Jim isn’t happy that Anya has made herself so at home. Jim tells Anya that he knows what she is up to but he’s got her number. He knows she’s trying to milk the system but British people pay their taxes and he won’t have her laughing at them. Anya points out that she’s not doing a very good job of it – no house, no benefits…We see Jenkins’ car pull into the Square whilst Jim asks Anya how many mugs have fallen for her story. Dot enters the room just as Jim tells Anya that he’s called immigration – he’s done his duty as a citizen. Dot is devastated.Dot, Anya and Tomas escape out of the back door leaving a gob-smacked Jim to face the immigration officers that arrive at the front door. They push past Jim and start to search the house. Jenkins asks Jim where he’s stashed Anya. Dot returns home and tells Jenkins that he must have received a prank call. She forces them to leave. Dot asks Jim to help her. She’s got a plan but she doesn’t want Jim to be against her. Jim and Dot head out the back door to take Anya to ‘sanctuary’. Dot and Jim pull up outside Walford Church and sneak inside with Anya and Tomas. The immigration officers follow and pull up outside the church. Dot unpacks bedding etc in a side room in the church. She tells Anya that it is safe. They hear Jenkins enter and shout out Anya’s name. Dot admits that Anya is in the church but the Police can’t do anything. The Police point out that the church isn’t a ‘sanctuary’. Dot explains that Anya isn’t a criminal but Rice tells her that he has to do his job. Jim apologises to Anya – he’s an old man and he can’t keep up with all the changes in the world. Anya knows that she is going to be taken away. Anya passes Tomas to Jim – she wants to leave him with them as they are kind. She takes a deep breath and heads to the door. Dot asks Rice to turn a blind eye. Anya admits that she arrived in the country on the back of a lorry. Anya stops Dot from mentioning Tomas. She whispers to Dot that she trusts her. Dot realises that Anya is leaving Tomas with them. Jenkins arrests Anya and asks Jim and Dot if they are hiding anyone else. Jim squeezes Dot’s hand and tells them no, only Anya. Anya is driven away in Rice’s car. Dot re-enters the church and starts walking up the aisle towards Jim who is holding Tomas. He passes the baby to Dot and they both look down at the baby entrusted to their care.
