Martin is ecstatic to see Rebecca. He tells Sonia that she’ll never touch her again but Rebecca wants her Mummy. Martin carries her away from Sonia. Sonia appears and is shocked to see the damage caused by Martin’s freak out. Sonia reassures Rebecca that Martin can put her to bed. Martin is annoyed by how much Sonia and Rebecca have bonded. Martin starts to call the police as they argue. Rebecca is woken by the noise and comes downstairs. Sonia protests her innocence about Pauline’s murder but apologises to Martin for the heartache she’s caused him. They are interrupted by Peggy – she wants Martin to come out and face her. Martin and Sonia hide. Sonia comforts Martin as he talks about what he did earlier. Sonia tells him that she’s going to turn herself in – fight to prove her innocence. She asks Martin to bring Rebecca to Dot and Jim’s – allow her to spend every last minute with her daughter. Sonia tells Martin that hearing his voice was what made her come back. She heads off and Martin, emotionally cold, dials 999. Sonia gets spotted by the Slaters– she rushes to the Branning’s door. Jim is paranoid that Sonia’s been spotted. Mo is telling the pub that Sonia is back. Phil sticks up for Sonia. Sonia is telling Dot and Jim that she intends to turn herself in. Martin realises that Rebecca doesn’t have her rabbit. Dot offers to fetch it to allow Martin to stay with his family. Sonia tells Rebecca that she has to go and tells her to look after Martin. Sonia and Jim head out to face the crowd. As they leave the house they see a flashing blue light. Sonia is robbed of the chance to give herself up. She is devastated to see Rebecca watching from the upstairs window. Carly tells Kevin that either Shirley goes or she does. Kevin tries to reason with Shirley about her staying in Walford. Kevin is upset because Carly has packed her bags. Pat reassures him that Shirley is having trouble finding a job, without money she won’t be able to pay the rent. Kevin tries to reason with Carly. Shirley is talking to Garry about where she can find a job – she asks Peggy for a job but the answer is no. Pat watches on with a satisfied smile. Pat encourages Kevin to be rational and look for Shirley’s Achilles heel instead of fighting. Peggy apologises to Shirley for being abrupt earlier – she offers her a job as the cleaner. Kevin threatens to tell Peggy about the real Shirley – she asks Kevin what he thinks the kids would think of the real truth. Rob arrives at the clinic to dissuade Dawn from having an abortion. Rob tells Dawn that he wants her and the baby – they can be a family together. Dawn doesn’t know if she can trush him. Rob and Dawn are in Rob’s car – she tells him that she won’t tell anyone what is going on. All they’ve got to concentrate on now is their perfect little family. Rob is uncertain. Peggy pushes Phil about what he is going to do to Martin but Phil is only worried about Ben. Back at the Vic Peggy tells Phil that she’s been round to see Martin – Phil is angry and Peggy begins to wonder if Phil had more to do with Sonia’s disappearance than he is letting on. Dot is alone in the launderette – she sees Pauline’s overall on a hook. Pat enters with some washing – she tries to comfort Dot who believes that she’s failed Pauline . She was the one that called the police about Sonia. Dot arrives at the Fowler’s and is shocked at the state of Pauline’s family home.
