Chelsea is in shock, cuts to her face and arms. She looks in horror at Deano slumped against the window. She realises she's trapped inside as she sees steam rising from the bonnet and starts banging on the window, panicked. Minty rushes up and tries to open the door as Garry calls 999. Denise arrives. She looks round at everyone gathered in horror but as she gets closer she begins to run, frantically as she sees Chelsea. Minty finally succeeds in wrenching the door open. Chelsea tumbles out into Denise's arms. Minty climbs into the car trying to get a response from an unconscious Deano. Garry sits with a shocked Abi, tears streaming down her face, cradling her arm. Deano is cut out of the wreckage. Denise tries desperately to get hold of Kevin on his phone. Tanya arrives just as Abi is being treated by the paramedics. Denise watches harrowed, as the firemen continue to cut Deano out of the car. Minty offers to find Kevin for Denise. Chelsea reluctantly gets in the ambulance without Denise. Kevin's car pulls up and he races over to Denise demanding to see Deano. He is horrified when Denise tells him how badly hurt Deano was when the ambulance took him away. At the hospital Dr Newton informs Kevin that Deano has been taken up for a CT scan. Kevin refuses Denise's offer to call Shirley. Kevin is left alone as Denise heads off to see Chelsea. Denise is shocked when Chelsea reveals that Deano went to see Shirley last week. Chelsea is then thrown as she realises that Denise was the one who gave him her address, Kevin looks through Deano's bag of belongings the slip of paper with Shirley's address among the items. Max suddenly bursts through the door and heads straight for Kevin with Tanya following, horrified. Max attacks Kevin asking him whether Deano was driving one of his faulty cars when he crashed. Dr Newton tells Kevin that Deano's head injuries are minor and they'll keep him sedated for the next 24 hours. Dr Newton shows Kevin and Carly into Deano's room where he lies motionless. They all turn sharply as Shirley enters asking Kevin when he was planning on telling her what had happened.Stacey holds the cubicle door open as Max makes to leave and pulls him back in. Max asks Stacey to follow him in five minutes. Tanya's calls Abi's mobile. Garry picks up and breaks the terrible news. Tanya turns on Max when he arrives at the hospital wanting to know where he was Max is wracked with guilt. When Tanya informs him that Deano was behind the wheel, Max furiously heads out. As Abi, with her arm in plaster, and Tanya prepare to leave the hospital, Max attempts to apologise for his behaviour. But an aggrieved Tanya pushes past him in anger. The Brannings arrive home and Max attempts to apologise to Tanya again but she tells him to get away from her. Rob and May tend to a weak Dawn who, increasingly resentful over their words of advice over her health, pushes past to leave. Despite Rob's protestations, May follows her. May angrily reminds Dawn she has a duty of care to the child she's carrying, but Dawn slams her front door in May's face. Inside her house Dawn breaks down in tears. A depressed Dawn makes an appointment for a termination. Stella sits on the bed still looking at glamorous photos of Kathy. Phil fills Peggy in on the car crash outside, having to then reassure Ben who overhears the conversation. Peggy is shocked when Phil tells her that Abi was involved too, looking through to the bar where Max is nonchalantly sipping his pint, still oblivious. Phil is taken aback when Ben asks him why there are no photos of Kathy out. Phil makes his apologies to Stella telling her he's decided to take Ben out instead. Phil tries to make things up to Stella who is still aggrieved at being abandoned on their night. She pulls away as he tries to hug her telling him she's off to bed. Phil is left feeling guilty.
