Danny Dyer and Kellie Bright

Danny Dyer has admitted it's like a soap opera living his every day life.

The new star of Eastenders - who plays Mick Carter, the new owner of the Queen Victoria pub, in the BBC One soap - welcomed his third child Arty into the world with his partner Joanne Mas in October and insists his chaotic life matches up to that of his character.

He said: "I'm in a soap and I go home to a soap. It is tough. When you're on set all day, you miss them. But you've got to get up and earn. Some people get up and they grab their tupperware box and go off to a building site so I feel blessed to have the job I've got."

Danny - who also has daughters Dani and Sunnie with Joanne - admits he was previously offered the role of badboy Carl White (Daniel Coonan) but turned it down because he felt it was too predictable.

However, he was attracted to Mick because of his family orientation and he couldn't wait to work with Kellie Bright, who plays his on-screen wife Linda.

Speaking to TV Times, he explained: "What excited me about this was that Mick is a family man; someone who loves his kids and his wife, a grafter. He's an alpha male, but not in an obvious way; he's not running around with a gun. I was offered a part before, but it was too obvious - it was Carl. I'm glad I turned it down, because I wouldn't be working with Kellie."
