Danny Dyer has signed up for 'EastEnders'.
Christmas will see Dyer's debut on BBC One's Albert Square, where he'll become the new landlord of the Queen Victoria pub after landing the role of "blokes' bloke" Mick Carter, the brother of Shirley Carter (Linda Henry).
The happy-go-lucky chap - "who loves his kids, his dogs, the monarchy and a bit of 'Land of Hope and Glory'" - will be joined behind the bar by his wife Linda - played by Kellie Bright - as they become the new favourite couple of Walford.
Danny said: "I am so excited about starting a new chapter in my career and cannot wait to become part of the East End family."
Kellie added: "I'm very excited about joining the show. Not only am I looking forward to working with Danny but becoming landlady of the Vic is a real honour."
Executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins, who is charged with reinvigorating the programme following a drop in ratings, said: I'm so excited to have actors of Danny and Kellie's calibre joining what is an already strong and talented company of actors.
"Having been together over twenty years, Mick and Linda have a good marriage and an easy shorthand with each other - but can also still fight like teenagers."
The 'Football Factory' star was offered a role on the show back in 2009 but turned down the chance, claiming it wasn't the right time in his career to venture into soaps.
He said previously: "It was flattering to be told I could save the show, but it's not right for me at the moment. Maybe when I'm fat, bald and 50."
