Robin Askwith has signed up for 'Coronation Street'.
The actor was casted in a guest role as Ritchie the veteran rocker in the ITV soap, and will be introduced as Dennis Tanner (Phillip Lowrie)'s former musical protégé.
Ritchie's reappearance will revive Dennis's love of the music industry, prompting him to become the singer's manager once again, according to the Daily Star newspaper.
His new job is set to cause friction with his wife Rita (Barbara Knox), who isn't happy about his time-consuming passion.
Robin is rumoured to have started filming today (30.09.13) with the scenes set to air this autumn.
The 62-year-old actor was last seen alongside Danny Dyer and Sarah Harding in 2012 comedy 'Run For Your Wife'.
He joins the long list of illustrious stars who have had short-lived roles on 'Coronation Street', including Spice Girl Mel B - who did a stint on the checkouts at Bettabuys in 1993 - Status Quo, who played at Les Battersby's wedding in 2005, and Britain's Prince Charles, who made a brief appearance in 2000 to mark the show's 40th anniversary celebrations.
Top British actors have also landed guest roles on the programme including Sir Ian McKellen, who starred as con artist Mel Hutchwright in 2005.
