As a trembling but determined Jack (William Tarmey) relives his memories of Vera, its clear he’s speaking from the heart and the congregation are moved by his heartfelt words about his late wife. As the service comes to an end, Jack is emotionally exhausted but satisified that he’s done the right thing by speaking. Back at the Rovers, while everyone enjoys the food at the wake, Terry (Nigel Pivarao) pulls Jack to one side and warns him not to sell the house to Tyrone - he's better off holding onto it. Once Terry has left and the rest of the mourners start to depart, Jack informs Molly (Vicky Binns), Tyrone (Alan Halsall) and Paul (Tom Hudson) about Terry's attempt to put him off selling No. 9 so as to ‘keep it in the family’. Jack’s not fooled by Terry’s attempts to secure his inheritance and assures them that they're his family now and he trusts them with everything. It’s been a tough day for Jack but he thinks Vera would have been pleased with the way things went and as he arrives back home and raises a glass to Vera, the emotions he's been struggling to fight all day overcome him and he breaks down in tears. Will Jack be able to move on? Meanwhile, Michelle (Kym Ryder) is unable to stop thinking about Alex and calls Wendy to see how he is. However, she's alarmed when Nick (Robert Horwell) turns up at the pub keen to find out about Ryan’s decision and produces a letter for Ryan claiming he can't bear the thought of never seeing him again. Michelle's upset when Nick reveals that Alex is so unhappy at home with Wendy he's moved in with him because he hates Wendy’s new partner. The situation becomes even more complicated when Wendy (Jane Slavin) arrives and informs her that Alex wants things to stay as they are. Michelle responds that Ryan has said the same about them. However, Michelle’s clearly feeling maternal instincts for her biological son, how long can she ignore her feelings for Alex? Maria's (Samia Smith) fuming when Carla (Alison King) pointedly lets slip that Liam (Rob James-Collier) only left Birmingham because Tony turned up. Liam tries to play it down, but Maria's irate and storms out of the pub convinced he only came home to her because he couldn't have Carla. Liam eventually manages to talk his pregnant fiancee round and offers not to go back to the factory that afternoon. Maria's appeased but how long until Carla goads her again?Elsewhere, Mel (Emma Edmonson) is annoyed that Lauren (Lucy Evans) is leading Darryl (Jonathan Dixon) on and he starts to think he should have listened to his sister when Lauren ignores him in the pub. However, when Lauren comes round to apologise Darryl is quick to forgive and forget and leads her into his shed.
