It's the day of Vera's funeral and Jack (William Tarmey) is worried sick about the day ahead and has got himself in a terrible state over his speech. He feels everyone will expect him to pay a tribute to his beloved Vera but isn’t sure he has the courage to stand up in front of the whole congregation. The atmosphere in No.9 becomes even more tense when Terry (Nigel Pivaro) arrives and parks his car in the space reserved for the hearse before failing to recognise Paul – his own son - and making it quite clear that he won’t be stepping forward to make a speech. As the ceremony gets underway Jack is a shaking wreck and when asked by the Vicar if he'd like to say a few words about Vera he’s hesitant but finally summons up the strength and makes his way to the lectern. Everyone panics as he collapses but determined to deliver his speech, he gets up and insists on speaking.Meanwhile, Maria (Samia Smith) is delighted that Liam (Rob James-Collier) came home early from his business trip believing that he really couldn’t bear to be apart from her for one night. However, in the pub that evening, she’s feeling confident and approaches Carla (Alison King) to boast to her about how pleased she was Liam came home early. Carla instantly retorts that she’s not the slightest bit jealous and comments that it’s a good job Tony (Gray O'Brien) showed up when he did, leaving Maria’s wondering if Liam told her the real reason he left Birmingham early? Elsewhere, David (Jack P Shepherd) talks to Tina (Michelle Keegan) about his imminent court case about the suicide attempt and she’s concerned. Also, Darryl (Jonathan Dixon)and Lauren (Lucy Evans) spend a day canoodling in the shed.
