'Coronation Street' actor Craig Charles has rubbished claims Callum Logan's dead body was seen breathing in last night's (23.09.15) live episode.
The 51-year-old actor - who plays Lloyd Mullaney in the soap - has spoken out after viewers claimed they could see actor Sean Ward's body moving up and down as if he was still breathing after Kylie Platt (Paula Lane) had killed his character Callum with a blow to the head and wrapped him up in an old duvet.
Craig said: "I don't know how the dead body can breathe because once that dead body's wrapped up in blanket it's actually a dummy.
"I hate to spoil it for you, but it's actually a dummy, so I don't know how a dummy was breathing."
The 'Red Dwarf' star confessed that although the cast were worried about making mistakes, they'd rehearsed so much that they were all excited to get it over with.
He told 'Good Morning Britain': "That's why you watch these things because you want it all to go wrong and that's the fun of it really. I think 'Coronation Street' does these things so well that they never go wrong.
"They rehearsed it so much. It's kind of rehearsed in two weeks and you've nailed it by then and you're like, can we just do this now please because you're running it through and running it through and everyone knows where they've got to be and what they've got to do and it's like clockwork. It's a really well oiled machine."
And although Craig is set to appear in his final scene tomorrow (25.09.15), he insists he won't miss his on and off-screen pal Simon Gregson (Steve McDonald) - who didn't appear in the live episode because he's currently taking time off - too much as they live so close to one another.
He added: "He's on a break, his wife's pregnant so he's taking a bit of time. You've got to take some paternity leave.
"We're great mates and we only live round the corner so it's very difficult to miss someone when I come home and he's always in my kitchen, in real life. So I'm not going to miss him that much."
