On compassionate leave from the prison so that he can attend the funeral of his father, Clayton Hibbs (Callum Harrison) is going to cause more trouble than ever before for his mother Shona Ramsey (Julia Goulding) in Coronation Street, when he arranges an escape from his handcuffs, with the help of his friend Macca (Gareth Berliner) and one of the funeral undertakers.
Dedicated to getting revenge on those who had left him to rot behind bars, Clayton has Shona firmly in his sights and climbs into the back of David Platt's (Jack P Shepherd) car, demanding his mum to follow his instructions and drive. What follows could be some of the most shocking scenes on the cobbles.
When the police eventually arrive at David's home, he's shocked to hear about everything that has happened. He races to the derelict building where Clayton says he's keeping Shona hostage, but is ordered to remain behind a cordon.
When Clayton emerges, dragging his mother out of the building, he holds a knife to Shona's throat and demands £10,000 and a car in exchange for her life, promising to kill her if he doesn't get his way.
Could history be about to repeat itself; could Clayton be about to murder his mother the same way he murdered Kylie (Paula Lane)?
Coronation Street continues Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV.
