Phelan is returning to Coronation Street for his final stand, and the soap, along with broadcaster ITV have this weekend released an exciting new trailer teasing the event. Kicking off from May 28, Phelan’s comeback will see him take to the cobbles in a bid to gain revenge against those he believes wronged him, and the teaser shows just who he’ll be targeting. You can check it out below:
Executive Creative Director of ITV Creative, Tony Pipes comments: “Pat Phelan, arguably Coronation Street’s greatest villain of all time, deserved an equally villainous promotional spot to alert the audience of his return to the street. We wanted to take the iconic street and show it as it’s never been shown before, dripping with a claustrophobically foreboding atmosphere. We placed Pat Phelan at the heart of the promo, appearing impossibly around every corner of the street for five unsuspecting characters: Nicola, Seb, Eileen, Gary and Sarah. The spot ends by revealing an army of approaching Pat Phelan’s surrounding the five huddled characters. This final climactic scene was captured using a combination of motion control and lighting special effects.”
Shown for the first time last night (May 12) on ITV at 8pm, the trailer promised that a dramatic week of episodes would air between Monday May 28 and Friday June 1, with some huge storylines that have been going on for some time finally coming to a head.
And as Phelan’s return to the street scares those who knew him best, there may also be trouble for Michelle, who prepares to marry Robert.
David’s also dealing with his rape ordeal, and with the truth finally out and Shona standing by his side, can good finally prevail?
Coronation Street continues throughout the week on ITV.
