Roy (David Neilson) and Hayley (Julie Hesmondhalgh) attend her aunt Monica's funeral but are immediately greeted with hostility from Monica's brother in law who tells the mourners about Hayley's past. Her uncle Bert (Ian Lindsay) apologises for their behaviour but Roy soon puts them in their place. After the service Bert gives Hayley a jewellery box which belonged to her aunt containing a few odds and ends. She goes through the box with Becky (Katherine Kelly) and is shocked to find old letters and photographs of herself as Harold but she doesn't let Becky see she has found them. What information will the letters contain?Ashley (Steven Arnold) and Claire (Julia Haworth) visit her mums to pick up the rest of Claire's stuff and leave Kirk (Andrew Whyment) in charge of the butchers. Casey (Zoe Henry) stops by and leaves a message for Ashley that if she can't contact him she will contact Claire. When Kirk gives him the message he rings Casey who asks him to give her another chance, how will Ashley respond?

Norris (Malcolm Hebden) talks about being lonely to Doreen (Barabara Young) but when she replies that he has Emily (Eileen Derbyshire) for company he explains it's not a proper relationship.

Carla (Alison King) books an appointment at the salon because she is meeting a client and mentions to Maria (Samia Smith) that he needs someone to put his smile on his face.
