Hayley and Roy are still reeling from the fire at the café, and get a shock when they find out the true cause of the blaze. Is Becky to blame? Hayley (Julia Hesmondhalgh) and Roy (David Neilson) survey the damage at Roy's Rolls caused by the fire. Hayley is annoyed that when she learns that Becky (Katherine Kelly) has been released as the police are yet to establish arson as the cause of the fire. Hayley chastises herself for trusting Becky and the Street residents are quick to judge her also, and she is sacked by Carla from the factory. Later in the Rovers, Becky pleads with Hayley to believe her when she says she didnt start the fire but Hayley gives her short shrift. However, things dramatically change when Hayley is later told by the fire officer that an electrical fault with the fat fryer was to blame. Hayley chases Becky to the bus stop where she sees her heading out of town to try and apologise, but is it a case of too little too late?Over in the salon flat, Fiz (Jennie Mcalpine) is missing Chesney so Maria (Samia Smith) tries to cheer her up but it doesnt work.
Meanwhile, Chesney is being spoilt rotten over at number five. Later, when Cilla (Wendi Peters) sees Fiz in the street, she can't help but twist the knife by telling her if she wants a kid, to have one of her own and to stay away from Chesney!
And over in Michelle's (Kym Ryder) flat Carla (Alison King) gets good news that Trendy Tots have doubled their order.
She tries to talk to Paul (Sean Gallagher) about this but he isn't interested. Upset by his flippancy she storms off. Will he follow his wife?
