At the Barlows', Ken (William Roache) attempts to cook a conciliatory breakfast but Deirdre's (Anne Kirkbride) in a foul mood, and when he then suggests they go away on holiday it's all too much for Deirdre. Heading for the door Ken suddenly warns her that if she walks away again he won't be there when she gets back. Ignoring him Deirdre leaves and Ken is left reeling as Blanche (Maggie Jones) reiterates that he needs to stand up to her. Reminded of his threat Ken comes to a decision. Is he about to walk out on his marriage?There's another marriage in crisis at the Connors' as Carla (Alison King) tries to convince Ryan (Ben Thompson) that she and Paul (Sean Gallagher) have just had a stupid row. But Paul's taken her break in confidence hard and pulls another one of his disappearing acts leaving the family fearing for his safety.Elsewhere, Gail (Helen Worth) and Claire (Julia Haworth) aren't happy about Darryl (Jonanthan Dixon) living in the Mortons' huge garden shed, especially when Claire spots him walking around in his pants. Resolving to have it out with Jerry (Michael Starke) Claire makes her move. Meanwhile, over at the Rovers Violet's (Jenny Platt) gutted when the day passes and she hasn't heard from Gary. Michelle's (Kym Ryder) friends urge her not to miss her chance again with Steve (Simon Gregson), and Liz (Beverley Callard) gives Vernon (Ian Reddington) the green light to go touring with his band.While the cat's away the mouse will play…with Derek!
