History was made in last night's edition of Monday Night Raw (July 25), as Sasha Banks was granted the opportunity to face Charlotte in a WWE Women's Championship match, following her victory at the Battleground pay-per-view the night before (July 24).
Using her wits and taking from the catalogue of strategies her idol Eddie Guerrero used during his career, Sasha ensured the match would be a one-on-one fight as she forced the referee to send Dana Brooke away from ringside.
Despite being hit on the outside by a huge moonsault from Charlotte, Banks managed to withstand the aggression and turned a spear into the Backstabber and Bank Statement, picking up the win and the title as Charlotte tapped out.
There's no word yet on when Charlotte will be returning to the ring with Sasha for her championship rematch, but the former title holder did take to her Twitter account to warn Sasha that she would be coming back harder than ever before in a bid to reclaim the belt:
The night also saw the Raw debut of Finn Balor, who fought his way to SummerSlam in one evening after winning a Fatal Four Way match against Kevin Owens, Rusev and Cesaro, before pinning Roman Reigns clean for the opportunity to face Seth Rollins at the upcoming pay-per-view.
Stephanie McMahon and Mick Foley revealed at the beginning of the night that a new belt - the WWE Universal Championship - would be coming to Raw, with the first ever champion crowned at the event. This is the title Rollins and Balor will be fighting over.
Drama continues in WWE with SmackDown Live's second edition airing tonight, July 26.
