X Factor contestant Ten Senah tried to claim £48.1 million from Camelot.

Unable to believe her luck when she realised she had the EuroMillions lucky numbers, she went to the lottery firm Camelot to claim but was refused her lump sum, because the ticket had been tampered with.

In an interview with The Sun, Ten said: "I'm numb, I was planning the house, the car, everything. Nothing prepares you for that moment - and then to have it taken away again, it's the cruellest thing in the world."

When she was told the numbers were stuck on with glue, she confronted the shopkeeper who she had bought the ticket from.

She added: "There's no way any of my friends would have got into my bag. I kept the ticket in my diary, really safe. I had no idea how this would have happened. It's the real ticket, that's it - why would I have gone to Camelot and gone to the guy in the shop if I didn't truly believe I had won?

"I know it's totally crazy, I couldn't believe it myself."

A letter from Camelot stated that the May 23 dated ticket was not a match, also failing the security measures imposed by the company.

"During the validation procedure... your ticket failed company security checks.

"I would also mention that there were no jackpot-winning tickets that matched all five numbers and both Lucky Stars on Friday, May 23."

Ten got through to the bootcamp stage of the singing competition in last night's episode of The X Factor, despite turning up to her first audition drunk.
