Both Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh were victims of this weekend’s first double elimination on The X Factor, as both Sam Black was struck out of the Boys category, whilst Sean and Conor Price lost their place in the competition and were the second group to be eliminated from Cowell’s category.
It wasn’t all bad news for Cowell’s acts however, as Rak-Su once again won the biggest portion of the vote and earned their place in a prize fight that will take place tonight (November 19) and see the winner earn a shot at recording a song with a critically-acclaimed songwriter in the USA.
Whilst all that seems like a lot of drama for one weekend, Nicole Scherzinger’s remaining Overs will have to go to battle tonight against one another and those in Sharon Osbourne’s Girls category, as yet another double elimination is planned and two more talented contestants will be sent packing.
That is of course unless Cowell decides to cancel the double elimination all over again, taking the chance before the weekend last week to say there would only be one act going home each night. He even took a dig at the rules following last night’s results, asking whose idea it was to hold the double elimination. (Host Dermot O’Leary made sure to tell him it was in fact his choice.)
Already losing one of his own acts however, we imagine he’ll be putting Sharon and Nicole through the same process in an act of revenge…
Grace Davies will once again be singing an original song titled ‘Hesitate’, whilst Holly Tandy takes on Ariana Grande and The Weeknd collaboration ‘Love Me Harder’, with Rai-Elle Williams tackling Jean Knight’s ‘Mr. Big Stuff’.
Over in the Overs category, we’ll hear Kevin Davy White give his own rendition of Whitney Houston’s ‘I Will Always Love You’, with Matt Linnen lending his vocal talents to Alicia Keys’ ‘Fallin’.
The X Factor continues Saturdays and Sundays on ITV.
