Sara Cox says it was "mad" to be considered for a judging role on The X Factor.
The BBC Radio DJ - who was reportedly in talks for the fourth and final spot on the panel - has quipped about not making it "through to boot camp" after former Spice Girl Mel B was announced as the new judge today, but admits it was an honour to even be in the mix.
She wrote on Twitter: "It's been a mad exciting few weeks& I've met some lovely people but I'm not through to boot camp. Big ups to Mel b @SimonCowell @TheXFactor (sic)"
Sara, 39, followed up with another tweet, claiming she already has her "dream job" working for BBC Radio 2.
The radio star met with bosses about the role recently and is said to have impressed them with her feisty personality.
A source said: "Sara Cox is an intriguing one. She met with producers last week and talked over the role and told them she was interested."
Mel B, 39, will join veteran 'X Factor' stars Simon Cowell, Cheryl Cole and Louis Walsh on the judging panel of the new series and plans to be an "honest" judge.
She said in a statement: "I'm so excited to be joining 'The X Factor' - I loved being a guest judge back in 2012. I've always thought honesty is the best policy when being a judge and that's what I'm going to bring more of this year - whether it's spotting an incredible singer, giving someone a reality check or debating with Simon over who's got it wrong! Now I can't wait to get started and find some amazing talent."
