The 55-year-old music mogul has reportedly put on an "extreme charm offensive" in a bid to secure the 'I Will Never Let You Down' hitmaker for the ITV show.

A source said: "Simon is throwing the kitchen sink at this to get Rita on board. Having Grimmy on the panel is a bonus but it is not the only main reason she is re-considering ...

"His final part was to offer a huge money deal. He upped the contract to £1.5million which will make her the highest-paid judge. The deal is massive compared to what the BBC can pay her."

Simon is also believed to be offering the 24-year-old singer an unlimited budget for clothes to try and persuade her to sign up despite her music commitments.

The insider added to the Daily Mirror newspaper: "She is worried about the impact of 'X Factor' on her music career in the US so Simon has said she can use his private jet any time.

"He has launched an extreme charm offensive. He says she can spend what she likes on dresses for the series so she looks great."
