Nick Grimshaw has revealed it was friendship at first sight when he met Cheryl Fernandez-Versini - because she was using a "plastic bottle as an ash tray".
The BBC Radio 1 DJ was a big fan of the former Girls Aloud singer before he joined her on the judging panel of 'The X Factor' and was nervous before meeting her.
But Grimmy's nerves disappeared when he introduced himself to her because she was so down-to-earth and enjoying a cigarette.
Grimmy was speaking to Chris Evans on his Breakfast Show on Thursday morning (15.10.15), when Chris enquired what he should ask the ' I Don't Care' hitmaker when she is a guest on his chat show 'TFI Friday'.
Grimmy told him: "What I love about Cheryl ... I was into Cheryl and I thought I was a Cheryl fan, but what sealed the deal for me was when I went and met her before we did the show and she was smoking fags in a tracksuit and she was using a plastic Fanta bottle as an ash tray. I thought, 'Me and you are going to be friends.' "
During the interview, Chris also revealed that Duran Duran and Take That are confirmed to perform on the new series of 'TFI Friday' - which returned to screens this year to mark its 20th anniversary.
The flame-haired presenter let slip: "I think there is a certain allure to 'TFI Friday'. Take That never got to play 'TFI Friday' because they split up in 1996, which is when 'TFI Friday' started so there are a few bands who never got to play it who are now back on the scenes. Duran Duran never played 'TFI Friday' they are playing in a couple weeks' time."
'TFI Friday' returns on Channel 4 this Friday (16.10.15) at 8.00pm.
