The 40-year-old producer will sit alongside the new judge during the Judge's Houses stage of the competition and admitted he's looking forward to taking part in the show.

He told BANG Showbiz: "I'm excited. Grimmy's a good friend and I have a lot of respect for his musical taste so that's the main reason why I agreed to do it.

"He just asked me and I said yes!"

However, he confessed he is extremely under-prepared as he hasn't been watching the singing competition and hasn't watched any performances by the boys in Nick's category.

Asked about controversial contestant Mason Noise, he admitted: "I don't know anything about it yet. I'm sorry."

But the 'Uptown Funk' hitmaker has faith in his radio host pal's musical choices and is sure he's picked good artists.

He continued: "I have faith that his team is good and he's really passionate about it and wants his team to do well."

And asked what kind of judge he will be, Mark insisted he would try and get the best out of the performers without being nasty.

Speaking at a gala dinner for the Amy Winehouse Foundation, he said: "I think everybody has a different style of how they do it. Being a producer which is what I've done for most of my career is about getting great performances out of people, making them feel like they're super human, like they can be the best that they can be. So my style is not about breaking people down and making them feel like s**t."
