The 17-year-old singer immediately burst into tears after being announced as the winner of the show on Sunday's (13.12.15).

Her mentor Rita Ora said: "Thank you to Louisa for being the most wonderful, fabulous, beautiful winner of the 'X Factor'. Thank you to everyone and to Simon Cowell for this amazing experience."

A tearful Louisa said it was what she has always dreamed of.

Runners-up Reggie N Bollie were praised by their mentor Cheryl Fernandez-Versini who said it is "just the beginning" for them.

Earlier in the evening both finalists performed their favourite songs from the series. Reggie N Bollie chose their mash-up of One Direction's 'What Makes You Beautiful' and OMI's 'Cheerleader' before finishing with Reel 2 Real's 'I Like To Move It'.

They received a standing ovation from the entire judging panel and wild screams from the audience.

Simon said: "Yesterday you were good, today you set it up a gear. I was thinking this week that Louisa was going to win the show but after that we may be in for a surprise."

Louisa's mentor Rita praised the duo while Reggie N Bollie's emotional mentor Cheryl said: "I have believed in you and loved you from day one. Thank you for trusting me and believing in me. I love you."

The duo said: "Thank you Cheryl for believing in us and making us share that belief. We really appreciate it."

Louisa's song of the series was 'It's A Man's World', which also won her a standing ovation.

Cheryl could barely be heard over the appreciative audience as she told Louisa she was running out of words of praise while Simon added: "That is what's called 'The X Factor'. In all the years I have done this show, I have never seen anything as good as this. You're not human."

Nick Grimshaw added: "It's like a slap in the face when you perform, you're no longer a contestant, you're an artist."

Both artists also performed their own versions of the winner's single, a cover of Bob Dylan's 'Forever Young'.

Performances on the show came from Coldplay, who sang 'Adventure Of A Lifetime' and Adele with a rousing rendition of her comeback single 'Hello'.

Although Adele tipped Louisa to win, she admitted that Lauren Murray was her favourite 'X Factor' contestant.

One Direction sang two songs, their new single 'Infinity' and fan favourite 'History', their last TV performance ahead of their upcoming hiatus.
