Andy and Carl from Journey South reached the final of X Factor in 2005 and went on to have a half a million selling No.1 album. Their second album HOME is in the shops now. Here are their opinions on last Saturdays show.
"There are some great songs that Nikki could have chosen as well and of all the Donna Summer songs, Hot Stuff was probably the last one I would have picked for her. Its a bit of a Hen Night song.."
Andy Well I thought Saturdays show was the worst live one yet. Disco is a really bad genre to choose as it doesnt suit everyone and can come across as very karaoke. Carl I agree with that, I think the only one who came off well on Saturday was Beverley, Im every woman was a great choice of song and really suited her. There are some great songs that Nikki could have chosen as well and of all the Donna Summer songs, Hot Stuff was probably the last one I would have picked for her. Its a bit of a Hen Night song.Andy Yeah, Ive moaned in the past about what they are doing to Rhydian with the camp stuff. He could be a big serious album selling artist and yet they keep making him cabaret. Whats all that about? I still think he is a strong contender to win, but Danni needs to think about not making him look ridiculous. Last weeks, no frills performance was his best yet and all this flamboyant stuff is over shadowing his talent. And Louis using any camp performance to have a dig at Simons sexuality, is wearing a bit thin as well now and I dont think Simon appreciates the digs and who can blame him?
"Louis and the judges seem to be in a mission to get Hope in the final, but now its the 2nd time they have been in the bottom 2, perhaps the girl viewers that the judges keep appealing to, to vote for them are just not buying into it."
Carl If there was one act that you would have thought would shine in the disco category, it would be Same Difference, but their performance was dreadful, everything about it was wrong. They were very lucky not to be in the bottom two. I heard somewhere that they are in the top 3 of the voting every week, so if thats true, clearly the public like them. They seem nice kids but I personally find them a bit cheesey.Andy Louis and the judges seem to be in a mission to get Hope in the final, but now its the 2nd time they have been in the bottom 2, perhaps the girl viewers that the judges keep appealing to, to vote for them are just not buying into it. I didnt think they were very good on Saturday. On paper it should have worked and the little Madonna twists were quite clever, but the truth is they were out of tune for most of the song. I wasnt surprised they came out in the bottom 2.Carl Yeah, but they were better than Alisha on the night. Based on the sing off, the judges chose the right act to go.
"I think Rhydian could do it, but I dont think its a done deal yet."
Andy I know its a shame as Ive been quite impressed with Alisha the last two weeks, but Young Hearts run Free just wasnt her song.
Carl So who do you reckon to win it?
Andy I think Rhydian could do it, but I dont think its a done deal yet. Beverley gets stronger every week, Nikki didnt have a great week but she can still sing well and Leon seems to have that likeability that might appeal to the women.
Carl Now theyre down to 6, it will be getting fiercely competitive in the house now and they seem to be such a mixed bag of personalities, I would like to bet there are some real clashes going on behind the scenes.
Andy Yeah I think so as its not like last year when Leona was emerging as the clear winner. I think everyone there will believe they can win it.
