Marty McKenna missed his 'Geordie Shore' interview and was almost cut from the show.
The MTV newcomer nearly missed out on appearing on the popular series alongside Gaz Beadle, Charlotte Crosby and Scotty Timlin, because he failed to show up for his second audition due to sickness.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, Marty said: "I think I was meant to do the second one, the second stage, but I didn't turn up because I was ill. [A producer] went, 'If you don't turn up you won't be on the show.' They still rang me a day later."
Marty admitted the build-up to his appearance on the show was a long and tiring process, but his time on 'Ex On the Beach' stood him in good stead for the long-running programme.
He shared: "There were f***ing loads of auditions. You do the same things as 'Big Brother'. I wasn't in any groups - I just done the final interview. Because I was on 'Ex on The Beach' before, so they [producers] saw me on that and said just do the final one."
Meanwhile, Marty also revealed he wasn't especially keen on the show before he agreed to appear on it.
When asked whether he was an avid watcher of the programme, which will see him make his debut on the 12th series next week, he confessed: "I wasn't a fan."
'Geordie Shore' series 12 premieres on MTV on Tuesday (15.03.16) at 10pm.
