The 27-year-old hunk announced he had quit ITVBe reality show 'The Only Way Is Essex' earlier this month and it's now been reported producers of the MTV dating show are hoping to sign him and his ex-girlfriend Emma McVey up for the next series.

A source shared: "In reality, Mario is the last person Emma wants to see.

"But she knows that they won't want her on the show without him.

"The producers are confident they'll bag him too, though."

Mario - who was previously engaged to former co-star Lucy Mecklenburgh - and Emma split up earlier this month amid claims he'd been unfaithful to her.

The brunette beauty is already said to have met with 'Ex on the Beach' producers, who are now hoping to convince Mario to join the show following the success of former 'TOWIE' star Kirk Norcross' stint on the current series.

The insider told The Sun newspaper: "After the explosive drama that Kirk Norcross brought to the last series, bosses hope another temperamental 'TOWIE' star will prove a ratings hot."
