Lindsay Booth would have quit The Apprentice if she hadn't been fired in last night's episode by Lord Alan Sugar.

The swimming academy owner admits that the BBC One show had her "out of her depth", and when she was asked to leave she was actually quite relieved.

Speaking to BANG Showbiz Lindsay explained: "If I hadn't been fired and I think Lord Sugar knows that. I would have resigned it's just that he got there before me, which I'm pleased about. I'm glad I was fired. I didn't want to take the back door route and resign.

"It was a huge relief. I think that if I was allowed I would have skipped out of the boardroom. I think [Lord Sugar] would have been shocked! But I think he knew I was secretly relieved."

She also revealed that her application to the show came with no prior sales experience, and so she's glad her firing came instead of that of another contestant.

"Funnily enough when I applied I thought I would be quite good at it. Clearly not! I didn't feel in that moment that I deserved to stay over any of my other candidates."

Following Lindsay's dismissal, another contestant - Nurun Ahmed - was sent packing after project manager Roisin Hogan brought her into the boardroom for a grilling alongside 'Jack the Lad' James Hill.

Nurun said after her firing that she still believed the failure of the task lay "absolutely" with Roisin.
