Will Young was one of the red hot favourites going into Strictly Come Dancing at the back end of last year, but just three weeks into the competition, the pop singer withdrew from the competition citing “personal reasons”.
The decision came in the days after his on-air spat with judge Len Goodman, and whilst he’s since insisted that any drama behind-the-scenes of the show wasn’t anything to do with his decision, professional dancer and his partner on the show, Karen Clifton has admitted the two haven’t spoken since he quit the series.
Speaking to Radio Times, she revealed: “I think everybody understands his reasons and we all understand, but it’s hard when there’s the other half.
“It’s my job and I love my job and it was really hard for me to stay behind and see everybody have an amazing series and not to be a part of it.”
Clifton added: “Obviously I completely support his decision, but it was really hard to see and to be a part of the show after he left at a very early stage.
“I’ve had some great partners in the past and I’m still friends with all of them, but this time I had one that really had something that could really do everything that I wanted him to do. He had that thing that you wait for every year.”
Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One later this year for series 15.
