Jessie J thinks those who watch The Voice need to vote only on talent.

The 26-year-old songstress - who appeared as a coach on the hit show for its first two series - says gifted singers are often voted out early on the singing competition because the audience "forgets it's about the talent" and vote for their favourite.

She explained to the Metro newspaper: "It just takes one person to make the show happen. If that person gets kicked out too early it can ruin it. The show brought out some amazing talent. Ash, who was on my first team, is, as far as I'm concerned, the best singer that's ever been on - but he didn't get through and I couldn't help that.

"The public need to think about whose album they'd buy rather than whose trousers or back story they like.

"Viewers get to know the contestants so well you forget it's about the talent."

The 'Bang Bang' singer also ruled out a return to the judging panel at the moment because she's so busy working on her new album.

Jessie said: "I've had no discussions about it. I don't have time to do a TV show when I'm putting out an album - which is what I tried to do with album two. The contestants deserve someone with the time and dedication they need. Never say never but I haven't been asked back. Or maybe I have and my manager hasn't told me. I'd like to think they'd ask me back."

The singer then quipped: "I might just buy a chair from Ikea and do it with Instagram videos at home!"
