The royal biographer has left the jungle just four days before the reality show's final this weekend.
An ITV spokesman confirmed: "Lady C has left the jungle on medical grounds."
The news broke after Lady C, 66, was spotted at the Palazzo Versace hotel on Australia's Gold Coast - where the evicted contestants and their family and friends stay during the series - earlier this morning (02.12.15).
However, a friend of the outspoken star told the Daily Mirror newspaper that there was "a lot more to tell" about her decision to quit but declined to comment further.
Lady C has been the surprise hit of the series because of her elaborate tales but has also been involved in her fair share of controversy after launching foul-mouthed tirades against fellow campmates Duncan Bannatyne, Tony Hadley and Brian Friedman.
Her departure from the camp will feature in tonight's (02.12.15) episode of the show.
No celebrities will now be voted off until tomorrow (03.12.15).
