Robert headed back to camp and immediately told his camp mates what happened during his trial. He said: âI was on the sixth one, the last one and Iâd taken everyone off and dropped them with the star and the key on the deck.
"Iâd got the key and I opened it the lock went open and I just couldnât get out of the chain...I went up still with the chain attached. What I should have done is properly opened the lock and let the chain drop. I went up pulled the lever and then they [Ant & Dec] said "no, no the lock" and the lock had re-locked."
He continues: "So I went back down and the water by this stage is God knows where, but I went down the ladder...I went [back] down and got the key and its got to be the right key because I could see all the other stars under water when I was down there with all the keys and the locks on.
"Thereâs one there with the key so itâs got to be that one, it wouldnât go and wouldnât move and Joe is still doing it. And then he did it while Iâm standing there like a prat saying "Iâve wonâ thinking I had and itâs just the fact that the key wonât work...Iâm sorry."
A victorious Joe returns to camp reports back on the events of the day. "I thought Iâd lost....as I was getting out he started arguing saying âmy last lock wasnât working, this key doesnât work.â He continues, âThe key (in his hand) werenât working and I was thinking âoh heâs done it, heâs done it theyâve given him a dodgy lockâ....there was another key at the bottom, they put the other key in and that was the key that done it.
"You know heâs a politician he nearly talked himself into victory. Canât get beat by Silksey!"
