Last night (Monday12Nov07) we saw the first episode of this years, I’m A Celebrity, and what an ‘episode’ it was. Before the brave stars even entered the jungle down under, there was tears, arguments and one of the Jungle crew even left without giving the Australian Jungle a try. This year the group of celebs were split into two groups and have settled into two separate camps, the only contact the two teams will have for now is when they go head-to-head daily in the horrible Bush tucker trials. The first group to be stated last night was Crock Creek. This consists of Rodney Marsh, 63 year old ex-England foot baler, Anna Ryder Richardson, 43 year old interior designer, Cerys Matthews, 38 year old welsh singer and songwriter, John Burton Race, 50 year old TV chef and Marc Bannerman, 34 year old Eastenders actor. The second group should have been made up originally of 5 celebrities too, but Malcolm McLaren, former sex pistols manager, walked out before he’d walked in to the jungle leaving the group , ‘Snake Rock’ with four members. Now however the group is back to being a 5-person team with a new celeb who has stepped in to take Malcolm’s place. So the full Snake Rock team are: Lynne Franks, 59 year old public relations guru, Jason Brown, 31 year old ex-member of U.K boy band ‘5ive’ AKA “J”, Janice Dickinson, The world’s first supermodel, Gemma Atkinson, 22 year old model and actress and finally the newest member, Katie Hopkins, 31 year old apprentice star. After slight anticipation and excitement, last night we saw the two groups head off into the jungle, but it wasn’t straight forward. Crock Creek were the unlucky ones as they were flown up to ¾ mile in the air by helicopter to bungee jump straight back out of it to their camp. It brought tears and nerves, we were also confused when Rodney was disappointed when he didn’t have the chance to jump because of the deteriorating weather. We thought he was the lucky one, but he said he had got himself ready for the first challenge of the next three weeks and would have liked to try it. While this was happening, Snake Rock were left near a river with a kayak, with out any oars though. The group figured that they would have to use sticks and tree branches instead. With the celebrity’s first ordeals over with, the two groups settled into camp. Crock Creek clicked instantly and got on well with each other, where as over in Snake Rock tension was in the air as we saw alpha females; Janice Dickinson and Lynne Franks bickering throughout most of their first hours in the jungle, Janice even called Lynne a “freak” and a “shrew”.In order for each group to be fed, one member of each had to do the first Bush tucker trial of 2007, The Wheel of Misfortune; Janice nominated herself for the challenge and Marc was voted for by his Crock Creek team mates..Ahh how nice of them. Janice was adamant she would win so her team could enjoy a nice meal. However this wasn’t the case when the two celebrities were fastened to a turning cog and spun with their heads touching slime filled, crawling, smelly tanks that were placed underneath them to retrieve the vital stars. Marc looked good to win from the start when his super model competitor handed over the first win to him, remembering she had a huge phobia of eels. With this Janice felt awful that her group would have to go hungry that evening. Late on in the show after 1 hour of voting the public decided who would be doing the next Bush tucker trial, shown on tonight’s show. Yes you’ve guessed it mouthy Janice Dickinson was voted for Snake Rock to do another hopefully- not-so humiliating challenge, and Rodney will be doing the trial for Crock Creek.
