Gemma and Cerys are bats out of hell

Gemma and Cerys were shot into the air like bats out of hell in the day’s Bushtucker Trial.

They were greeted by Ant and Dec and Ant told them: “It’s nice to see new faces down here.”

Dec joked: “Fresh meat.”

Cerys agreed: “That’s right, virgin trialists.”

Ant then explained: “It’s called Bat out of Hell for one very simple reason – once you’re strapped on this reverse bungee you will be shot into the air like a bat out of hell. You’ll be travelling at speeds of up to 50 miles an hour and when you’re in the air to earn meals for camp you have to hit this giant inflatable cone with your ammunition.”

The girls were handed tennis balls with paint on them and had to throw the balls at the cone and try and hit it. They were given three goes each and each time they hot the red section of the cone it would be worth one meal for camp while if they managed to hit the black and white checked section at the top of the cone they would get three meals.

Gemma went first and joked: “It’s a good job we haven’t eaten or else we’d be puking.”

She was catapulted into the air and aimed the ball at the cone but missed. On her second time she missed again but she managed to hit the red section on her third attempt meaning one meal for the camp.

Ant, Dec and Cerys all clapped and Gemma exclaimed: “About frigging time, isn’t it?”

Ant said: “That’s what I was thinking.”

As she made her way back to meet Cerys and the boys she said: “That is the worst feeling I’ve ever had.”

Next it was Cerys’s turn.

As she spring up into the air on the reverse bungee she screamed. But she also managed to hit the cone with her ball on the red section.

One her second attempt she scored another meal for camp and on her third go she hit the black and white section meaning an extra three meals. This meant the girls would be going back with six meals for the camp.

The girls clapped and hugged and Ant told Cerys: “You could turn into an adrenaline junkie after that – extreme sports and everything.”

Cerys said: “That’s what I’m scared about, this is nuts. It was horrible. I’m absolutely still shaking it was good but when you realise you’ve got to fall it’s just not right.”

Gemma said of the experience: “I hated it…not a nice feeling.”

Ant said: “Well done to the pair of you.”
