After investing hours and hours into what has been one of the most controversial series of Big Brother UK to-date, the time has finally come for a winner to be crowned in the live finale taking place tonight.
But, who really deserves to win the title and prize money? We break down why each house member may, or may not be entitled to the win...
Ash
Great in tasks, but mostly a boring character that has served as Helen's lap dog and refused to see the bad in her. He's constantly excusing her behaviour and as her closest friend, should be more willing to take her aside and tell her to reign it in when she's giving her mouth some exercise. His whole storyline has been based around Helen and so he's not had that much of a chance to shine. When she's away, he's charming, but we'll never forget him calling Jale a "maggot" and laughing along with the others when Helen was on a rant. Ideally will be one of the first three boots.
Ashleigh
She was one of the most disliked characters early on, but blossomed into an Irish beauty we could all get behind when she did her best to take down one of Helen's possé in Girl Power week. She may not have been successful, but it secured her as the core of the 'good' side of housemates who were silently and subtly fighting against 'evil'. She's a hilarious drunk and has been genuine in her chats to many of the housemates. Sure, she's bitched, but who in the house hasn't? Sometimes being 'so upfront and honest' is just an excuse for nasty people who don't have any tact to have their say. Would be a worthy first female Channel 5 winner.
Chris
His best moment was putting Pauline up for eviction just moments after hearing the crowds chanting for her to leave the house, but he's had a decline in popularity pretty much ever since. His admission that he finds Helen the hottest housemate was a little odd, but we can't forget how spot-on his analysis of those he's living with has been 99% of the time. If he'd have given Pav the time of day immediately upon his arrival, he would be a strong contender, but unfortunately I don't really think he now stands a chance.
Christopher
I strive to like Christopher more than any other housemate, but he did make it a little difficult when pining for Mark's affections despite labelling him a game player amongst other things. Their rows were at first hilarious before slipping into tedious ground, and he did seem to change his attitude and behaviour in the house after seeing the Bit On The Side audience discuss him. Can we blame him for this though? We told him what we wanted and he delivered - perhaps he really has changed as a person? I'd be surprised if he didn't make top three.
Helen
Yes, she is honest (at times). Yes, she has been an extremely entertaining housemate. But Helen just seems to be nasty to the core. She has no trouble in tearing people down and being rude to their faces, holding a grudge like no other and never admitting her faults ('I didn't cause the divide at all', 'I never bitch') etc. Not only this, but she's had a free pass to the final. One of Big Brother's most ridiculous twists has been good for them, because they're trying to shove a redemption arc down our throats as much as possible, but terrible for the show's major fans. She doesn't deserve her place in the final because without that pass, she wouldn't be there. Guaranteed. If Helen wins tonight, it will be a dark day for Big Brother.
Pav
I'm very against halfway housemates winning Big Brother. I know it's not Pav's fault that he came in halfway through - just as it's not Helen's fault she has a pass to the final - but he's not gone through the full Big Brother experience and so shouldn't be given a shot. I'll be shocked if he isn't the first booted tonight.
So, for me it is a toss-up between Ashleigh and Christopher. Both have been entertaining and shown that they're good people most of the time. They've learned a lot and to see that rewarded would be fantastic.
Catch Big Brother Power Trip - The Live Final tonight on Channel 5 from 9pm.
